robbing the hive. . .

on a sunny saturday afternoon
over the easter weekend
we set about the task
of harvesting honey from the hive

sam's folks there to share
their knowledge and their equipment
plus lend a helping hand
with this sticky sweet job

since the beginning of the year
the bees have been busy
establishing their colony
and filling frames with their honey

we extracted more than 20kgs
of delicious liquid gold
and left enough full frames
to see them through the winter

the more i get to know these bees
the more in awe i am
of their diligence,
their precision and their cleverness

{thank you for your gift
sweet honeybees!}

  13. Hi Rach, that look sensational! When we come down I'll trade you a jar of my quince jelly! I LOVE fresh honey. Better still eating hunks of it still in the wax then spitting the wax out! Remind me to tell you about my Dad's dodgy hive set up in Churchlands!!
