This latest creation has been such a hit with The Little One, I can hardly get it off her to wash.
Her little internal clock knows the rhythm of our day well. In the late afternoon she'll say "make dinner" and drag her chair up to the kitchen bench. Her new apron makes her role as little helper more official. Gives her a real sense of importance.

The design was inspired by this free pattern over at Sew Liberated. It's intended for 3-6 year olds, but fits her tiny "nearly two" size body just perfectly. The elastic neck and Velcro waist strap mean that she can easily get it on and off herself. I lined it with some of the spotty waterproof fabric I had left over from this project.

ReplyDeleteCooking up a storm is great with little ones - especially if they have their own "special" apron. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI bet the afternoon moves along much smoother with your girl having a "job" to do. Sometimes a little more work means a lot less hassle.
ReplyDeleteThe apron is gorgeous.
What a fantastic idea! I've been wanting to make an apron for my 3 yo nephew, so I've definitely been inspired!

ReplyDeleteOh wow. I wonder if aprons for my two boys will transform them into helpful angels for the afternoon? I suspect not.
ReplyDeletegreat idea to teach them young and let them loose later on so you dont have to cook forever. My daughter still has her little apron and she is 17. No, she doesnt try to wear it still lol
