making | turkish delight + paper boxes . . .

my dad has a sweet tooth and on every gift giving occasion, there's a little box of turkish delight tucked in with his present.
until recently it hadn't occurred to me that i could make my own,
and then when i did i was amazed at how easy it was. all of the ingredients already in my pantry.
the recipe is here. {next time we'll try it with less gelatin and add a handful of pistachio nuts}.

we used a cute calendar from last year to make the simple origami box.
starting with one square of paper trimmed slightly smaller than the other, so that the base fitted nicely within the lid.
because the card was fairly heavy, i scored the fold lines first using a dull knife
 and then folded like so.

{all of the inspiration and instructions for this project came from melissa at tiny happy}

  1. I spotted this over on Tiny Happy and really fancy making some, I love turkish delight, just need to get myself some rose water.

  2. This is beautiful Rachel...I will be trying this recipe, thanks for sharing. I love the boxes, what a perfect, thoughtful gift :)

  3. That sounds delicious! My Dad is also fond of the odd piece of Turkish delight. A great idea - thanks!

  4. Oh i love turkish delight but have never tried making it myself. I didn't realise it was so simple to make.

  5. My dad loves turkish delight too..when we were children and a box of chocolates was being passed around he'd always have the turkish delight! Trying the recipe with pistachios sounds really nice.

  6. Wow! I am well impressed! here I am sitting here wondering how I can get my hands on some lollies at tis time of night and you tempt me with homemade turkish delight! Well I'll just take another sip of my tea then shall I? xx

  7. This looks just gorgeous, what a beautiful gift.

  8. Here's another: impressed! (but also unimpressed at the sudden late-night sweet-tooth craving - with absolutely nothing in the pantry that will hit the spot. NOTHING!).

  9. This is such a great idea! and it looks so lovely... sweet gift xx
