january | so far . . .

it's a funny time of the year. a clean slate. hopes and dreams for a new year. visitors. the absence of our usual routine. mum staying in the shack out the back. {it's like she's always been here}. stinking hot weather. beach days. some rain. a fifth birthday to celebrate. a party to organise. our little town bursting at the seams with holiday makers. taking in some live music {emily barker has provided the soundtrack for our summer}. a week sick in bed for me. trips to the doctor to find out why. sam working out of an office in town. charming kids. ratty kids. energetic kids. exhausted kids. daily swimming lessons. takeaway dinners. an overseas trip to think about. things to pack and organise. a baby growing quietly in the background. the busiest of times. the quietest of times.

  1. Rach, I love this description of your summer life, it's SO like mine (minus the mum in the shed- how do I hook up that goodness?).

We are watching the Cloudstreet series at the moment and hearing tales of bustling town in WA ALWAYS make me imagine Fish and Quick and Dotty and Oriel, So reading this had me imagining you in the story too :)

  3. Summer is such a special season, and your description is so beautiful. We've been enjoying lots of salads together, sundresses for me, lots of lemon flavored water and lazy brunches. I'm definitely craving a burger though!

  4. Gosh love reading about your summer days, such a contrast to here where it's cold and frosty.

  5. I can relate to the beauty, crazy nature and adventure of Aussie summers. I hope the pregnancy is going well. I'm trying to get use to a 12 day old newborn and a toddler in the mix. I hope the joy of those summer adventures continue for you guys.

  9. Oh, such sweet pangs of jealousy. Seven inches of snow now melting into grey slush, Ice in my veins, it seems.
