my new camera has finally arrived. a wonderful birthday gift from my people earlier this month, that got waylaid in the postal system for a while. it's a canon 60D and it feels just right for me. we've been spending a bit of time getting to know each other. casting the instruction manual aside and having a fumble around with the settings. i think it will take a while to explore all the different features and really understand what it's capable of. i'm researching new lenses to add to the kit {maybe a 50mm to start with}. so from here on in you might notice a new sharpness and crispness with my pictures. but i think i'll be missing the easy familiarity of my trusty old camera for a while yet . . .

Have fun with it Rachel! I am thinking about getting a 50mm lens too, do share your thoughts & photos if you get one! How is that wood oven?
ReplyDeleteOh, you won't regret the 50mm! Lovely stuff xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful, and yep, a 50mm is a great investment!
ReplyDeleteI've had my new camera for about 3 months now and stii have it set on Auto... So at the moment I'm just a mum with a camera that takes somewhat pretty pictures :) My NY resolution is to learn to use it properly and take myself OFF Auto!
ReplyDeleteSophie xo
Stunning images! They are gorgeous! x
ReplyDeleteOooh, gorgeousness! Looks like a successful play for sure. Great photos. That flower is amazing too. :)
ReplyDelete50mm! yes! I love mine on my film camera, it's a 50mm/f2.2 and I dream of a 1.8 or 1.4 or 1.2 .. happy experimenting! x
ReplyDeletewowza!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. Never thought ideas in to photography much until we got a canon dslr. Like Sophie I am still on auto want to try more, for some reason I haven't, where to start? Enjoy your experimenting.
ReplyDeletestunning. the colours are divine. xo
ReplyDeletegreat choice Rachel! You'll have so much fun with that combo...
ReplyDeleteLucky you Rachel! Your photos are already so lovely but having a new fancy camera will be so great for you. I have yet to fully experiment with ours, I just fiddle around with settings, crossing my fingers one shot will be a keeper. I've got a book coming for Christmas though about taking your camera off auto so am hoping that will provide some much needed assistance for me :)
ReplyDeleteYou will love it, I have the same camera. I am still learning how to use it well and I have had for just over a year now. Have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos - whatever you're doing is working!
ReplyDeleteRach I am a big fan of the flower close ups. Or anything close up. It really makes you stop and look. You are going to have so much fun with this new camera.
ReplyDeleteYour pics look great
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pics you have captured with your new friend. I have a 50D (wish I'd gotten a 60D!) and just this year got the cheap 50mm lens. Definitely worth it for playing with the aperture.
ReplyDeleteI also did a couple of things to extend my ability with the camera. One was an online course called Eyes Wide Open. That was great for practice and also clarifying a few things - good value too!
I bet you're going to continue to take gorgeous pics. Have fun!
