playing with the new camera . . .

my new camera has finally arrived. a wonderful birthday gift from my people earlier this month, that got waylaid in the postal system for a while. it's a canon 60D and it feels just right for me. we've been spending a bit of time getting to know each other. casting the instruction manual aside and having a fumble around with the settings. i think it will take a while to explore all the different features and really understand what it's capable of. i'm researching new lenses to add to the kit {maybe a 50mm to start with}. so from here on in you might notice a new sharpness and crispness with my pictures. but i think i'll be missing the easy familiarity of my trusty old camera for a while yet . . .

  11. Lucky you Rachel! Your photos are already so lovely but having a new fancy camera will be so great for you. I have yet to fully experiment with ours, I just fiddle around with settings, crossing my fingers one shot will be a keeper. I've got a book coming for Christmas though about taking your camera off auto so am hoping that will provide some much needed assistance for me :)

  14. Rach I am a big fan of the flower close ups. Or anything close up. It really makes you stop and look. You are going to have so much fun with this new camera.

  15. What beautiful pics you have captured with your new friend. I have a 50D (wish I'd gotten a 60D!) and just this year got the cheap 50mm lens. Definitely worth it for playing with the aperture.

I also did a couple of things to extend my ability with the camera. One was an online course called Eyes Wide Open. That was great for practice and also clarifying a few things - good value too!

I bet you're going to continue to take gorgeous pics. Have fun!
