we're exhaling
& enjoying that summery space
between christmas & the new year
looking at our home
with fresh eyes & enthusiasm
after a stretch of days away
watching the children feast happily
on a smorgasbord of new toys
{i found peace with all the 'stuff' here}
scrubbing the shack & preparing
for a steady stream
of summer holiday visitors
recalling this time four years ago
when i was hot & heavy
excitedly waiting for my firstborn to arrive
reflecting on the past year
& discussing plans & hopes
for a new year
: :
{here are some glimpses
of our christmas extravaganza}
Just beautiful.

Your Day looked so calm.
ReplyDeleteWe struggle with the 'stuff' too, loads of generosity and now our Lucy's room looks like a toystore. The article is good you have referred to on your latest post and it is nice to know that we are not the only parents that are overwhelmed by loads of pressies and try to figure out why it is this way.
My wonderful father handmade a wooden music box for Lucy this year, it is the one present that made me smile and cry as it reminded me of the beautiful things Dad made for me as a child.
With all the china junk we are in abundance of it is nice to have memories of simplicity from our childhoods to hold on to.
Gorgeous. What a beautiful day, time, memory... enjoy the rest of the festive season & if you figure out where the time keeps disappearing to, please let me in on it!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lovely christmas. Thanks for the link to the article about stuff over christmas. "Stuff" can tend to make me a little nervous too. Sometimes there is nothing else to do than make peace with it. Happy new year in advance to you and your family xo
