listening
to rain heavy and steady for almost a week now
wearing
gum boots and raincoats and mittens and beanies
catching up
with my little brother visiting from canada
making
simple fingerless mittens for the daddy-o and me
picking
mandarins and oranges and pomegranates too
eating
delicious mamabaked meals from the freezer
marking
the winter solstice with a lantern walk
appreciating
my mum and how much she does for me
buying
locally made uggies to keep tiny toes warm
realising
it really does take a village
discussing
tiles and taps and tanks and tradies
reconnecting
with my beloved over fine food and wine
cheering
as my baby boy takes his first wobbly steps
: :
...and thank you all for your concern.
the house on the hill stood strong
in the wild and windy weather.
That all sounds so wonderful.
