my creative space. . .

Is there a 12 step program?
I need one.
Quick smart.

I love that those tiny scraps I've hoarded for eons, finally have a purpose.
I love the quick and easy instant gratification.
I love that they're so damn cute.

. . . and while I meditatively add more and more to the pile,
I'm searching for a solution. How to affix them to the mountain of metal hair clips?
(In a permanent, completely and utterly toddler proof, kinda way)

I've tried liquid nails.
Purchased a high temp hot glue gun.
But no cigar.

Fingers crossed that one of the clever, crafty girls over at
Kirsty's will be able to help!

  2. Oooh, where did you find those metal button kits? I can only find plastic ones and they are not as sweet as this! How about solder? With one of those little old soldering irons? I wonder if that would work? They would also be cute threaded with hair elastics. :)

  4. Buttons are a brillant use of scraps. I am also curious about a good way to secure them and where to find metal backed ones. I have a few metal kits from overseas but would like to buy locally. Please share any good solutions you come across.

  7. They're cute as a ... well ... button. Couldn't you just run the bobbypin through them? They'd be a bit floppy, but sit in your hair OK.

  9. Hi Rach, no glue will stick them to metal clips. Gary solders them on for me. We tried a whole heaps of glues and they all snap off! Hope that helps!

  10. Ooooh. Those buttons. So delicious. Wow, who would've thunk that you need to solder buttons to hair clips? Makes sense I guess.

  11. Oh Buttons! So beautiful! Sorry I am no help with glue, I only work with fabric glue and that just won't work. Perhaps soldering might be the way to go. The hardware store might be your next stop!

  12. The ones I've seen at the market are put on with some sort of wire. The ends are hidden so that it is safe. Don't know how it is done though!
    Love your fabrics!!

  13. So gorgeous! These look like they will make lovely hair pins.
I use a glue called HASULITH , it's very permanent as far as I can tell (sticking metal to metal). How are you going to stick these to a hair clip with the wire back still attached?

  14. Hmmm - soldering would probably be the go, otherwise, just make them into baubles? I just love the combinations of colours and fabrics - nice!
