Imagine a time when hosiery was darned, war socks knitted and every spare button saved carefully in an old tobacco tin.
Admire the beauty and quality of the packaging alone. The classic design. When things were made to last.
Convince me, that as special and irreplaceable as these treasures are, it's best that they be put to good use and not just lovingly admired.
Rejoice with me over being so well stocked now with quality sewing supplies, I may never need to visit that loathsome sewing warehouse again.

ReplyDeleteI can smell that delicious tobacco tin now! Not that I ever smoked rollies, but my brother did in his late teens and he used to give me the empty tins - they had such a lovely sweet smell. And the vintage packaging you've got there is just beautiful too, I'm a huge fan.

ReplyDeleteIt's a tough call to use them or not, I always find vintage thread not as strong as a new guterman.....But to never need to step foot in that loathsome sewing warehouse again, is quite an incentive to use them...
