around here | catching up . . .

there are half a dozen eggs most days. there's a girl obsessed with skipping rope. there's another lap around the sun for me. there's a realisation that i'm closer to 40 than 30. there's a roly poly happy baby. there's a tiger snake living in the veggie patch. there are fresh flowers on the table. there's a delicious magic bean cake. there's the reminder of a bushfire over the back fence. there's a pile of jamie oliver cookbooks by my bed. there's a new found love of running. there are knees that just don't want to comply. there's a beautiful new bernina on my sewing table. there's the torture of no time to use it. there are very early starts to the day. there are dexter sessions in the evenings. there's a three and a half year old to try and understand. there are a few kilos off and a few more to go. there are good times with old friends. there's a veggie patch finally planted out. there's talk of christmas just around the corner. there's so much to share but not knowing what to say. there's a post drafted where i bid farewell to tea with lucy. there's something that stops me from publishing it.

  3. Please don't publish the farewell post.
Freshly picked oranges - there's nothing like them, and my mouth's watering at the sight of that cheese platter. Gorgeous flowers, cake, kids and babe x

  5. Happy Birthday Rachel!!! Sounds like you are the exact same age as me :-) Lovely photos as always. I completely relate to what you say about blogging. I've been thinking more and more lately that not blogging would be a huge weight off my shoulders in some ways but something keeps me plugging away at it. What Jane S said above, yours is a rare gem and it would be a huge loss to not have Tea with Lucy in the blogosphere. I hope you can find a way to stay. Mel x

  7. Hmmm it's a dilemma I often find myself in. Do I carry on the blog, or do I stop. I have had breaks. But I come back to document this life I've carved out for myself. It's also a archive for my family to perhaps look at one day.
I'm sure you'll reach the right decision, but I will miss your blog if you do decide to 'retire'.

Wishing you the sweetest, happiest week and new year.
I'm so glad you are staying for now.

  13. Happy belated birthday lovely!! Gorgeous photos. Please keep blogging, even if it's only here and there :) I love this little space of yours and would be sad if you chose to stop blogging. In saying that, I've been going through a bit of a blogging lull myself lately, wondering what my motivation is for it and how to make it work and 'fit' in with my days at this point in time :)
