the sun pops over the horizon. the pink light stretches over the inlet water. the rooster crows. the kids wake. there's a shuffle, thump and patter of feet. doors open and close. their dad makes them breakfast. they are morning people. i am not. i roll over and pull the covers up to my chin. i doze. if i'm lucky, a cup of hot tea is deposited by my bedside. eventually they make their way into my bed. a morning cuddle. a gentle start to the day. it's the ultimate gift for this weary body.

{thank you pia for my little mention in the may issue of country style magazine.
such a sweet surprise!}
Ahhh Rachel your wonderful photos make me feel so deeply relaxed just looking at them. Hope you are doing well and not too uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. I'm not a morning person but there is something about being up early with a hot cup of tea and watching the sun make its appearance xo
ReplyDeleteMornings are hard for me, at 28 weeks pregnant, I'm still throwing up every morning. My dear husband makes me a simple breakfast and a hot tea. Only then can I face the day!
ReplyDeleteI got made redundant yesterday so I got a sleep in today! JJ is in daycare and I am off to get some pampering! First day I have had to myself since she was born and I am a little excited!!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely beautiful. I love the sunrise, the tea in the morning, breakfast, and the sweet greetings of a plant in the morning. This made my day/evening. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Rachel and beautiful photos - such a peaceful, calm start to the day. Mine always starts with tea too :) I love the colour of your sweet tea pot too. Hope you are keeping as comfortable as possible. Just wanted to let you know that the gum leaves watercolour print I had once shared on my blog and which you had left a comment about is currently the prize in a giveaway I'm holding.... Take care xx
ReplyDeletesuch beautiful photos! thanks for stopping by my blog too... i can only imagine why baby shoes have you gah gah! so close to having new little feet in your world. hope all is well xx
ReplyDeletelovely words and pictures. nothing quite like hot tea in bed for reviving, or should that be revving one up x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos Rachel. Your mornings sound exactly the same as mine except I have coffee instead of tea which is often found cold on my bedside table as I usually doze off again :-) I found the morning ritual worked really well when Flynn arrived too as I could just feed him in bed for that first feed of the day while Daniel did the usual breakfast thing with the other kids and everyone just carried on as normal without wondering where I was. Take care.....Mel xxxxx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos. You've captured that early morning light so well. x
