a month {or so} of making. . .

getting reacquainted with knit fabrics {in an obsessive sort of way}. a little girl who rather likes stretchy fabric creations. one little sun kissed hat. one, two, three more wiksten tanks. my very first milo vest. plans for many more milo vests. a bit of mummy / daughter matchy matchy. the spots you asked for {times two}. a couple of repurposed vintage sheets. a little green and white dress i may have already shown you? handmade gifts for friends, big and small. some new wardrobe staples. a mountain of washing that really needs folding. working my way though a friend's extensive ottobre collection {complete with german instructions}. deciding i really must have my own subscription {in english please}. kindy gate sew-and-tell sessions to spur me on. finally rethreading the overlocker {and wishing i'd done it months ago}. a 40 year old bernina still going strong. really wishing there were more hours in the day.

  1. I really wish I knew how to sew ... think I might try a new hobby. You are talented and I especially love the yellow dress at the bottom. LOVE. Lately, I I've been making jam and lots of it. Hope all is well .. and even though I don't comment all the time your blog is such a joy to read. XO!

  2. Wow, you've been busy. I have never plucked up the courage to make clothes from scratch. I like to applique cheap tshirts for the kids though - currently working in some very over the top corgi's wearing tiaras for the Queen's jubilee!

  5. Milos are my favourite knit of all time. Just so useful and with enough skill required to keep you happy but not frustrated. Would love a whole pic of that one!

  6. What is a Milo vest? Obviously not made of chocolate drinking powder. I am totally out of the loop here!

    2. Just thought I'd mention it took me a second read to see the links as they are very similar colour to the main text you can change their colour in the template thingy if you want them to be a totally contrasting colour so they stand out more.

  7. You're so clever. I like this sew'n'tell! I want to make some little dresses for my girls...so I'm going to give sewing a try. It's exciting but daunting. I've brought a couple of books to help me...do you have any tips?! x

  9. I haven't sewn in a few weeks, I'm really feeling the urge to now. I love the polka dot tank, my neighbour has the same pattern I have to borrow it. Wonderful work.

  10. I smiled at your words about threading the overlocker. Oh that's a task in itself. Lovely to see your sewing, I agree with other comments I too like this 'sew and tell' there should be more of it. And yes more hours in the day would be such a gift. Look forward to seeing more of your creations and will let you know if I discover a good knits online link. My friend at The Dancing Queen fabric shop in Melbourne may have some good tips I'll get back to you.

  11. Very clever beautiful creations. Really want to learn to see clothes for my kids. I've completed some quilts that I've had stashed away and finally finished, great feeling to have them complete just in time for winter!

  12. Love the bright colours. Your milo vest is great. I've just knit my 1st cables on a fingerless glove for me (right hand still to do). Think my little ones might just need a milo for winter if I can stop making hats!

  13. My, you have been very productive Rach :) I've indulged in a bit of sewing of late and quite a bit of knitting. Totally loved knitting the Milo after ironing out the initial hiccups, it's definitely one I'll do again...an again I suspect.
