The Little One's amazing memory impresses me on a daily basis. Her ability to recall random things mentioned months ago. Or when we drive past someones house we've only visited once before, and she calls out their name excitedly.
I've decided to make her own version of the "memory" game. Initially I had intended to use images of family members, but it got all to hard sifting through literally thousands of photos trying to find appropriate pictures.
Instead we set up a photo shoot of some of the favourite characters and things in her everyday life. This process in itself was a lot of fun. She would run off and fetch Dolly, then sit her down for a portrait shot. Then Monkey. Teddy. Piggy. Pine Cone. Looking back through the images on the computer brought on endless giggles and excitement.
I found the easiest way to crop all the images to the same size was using Big Huge Lab's Mosaic Maker. I love that tool!
We then printed two copies and pasted the images onto some funky backing paper, courtesy of the Frankie calendar. I swear I'd buy the magazine just for that tear out page if I had to.
We cut the page up into individual cards and laminated them so they can withstand the tough life they're sure to lead. We lined a little box with the same backing paper for cute storage.
Already I can see endless options with these cards. Sorting. Vocabulary building. Matching. Along with the traditional memory game.
There are also a whole lot of additional sets of cards I plan to do. Nature. Colours. Food. The options are endless.
Not so much sewing going on around these parts lately. But we're having fun creating other things!
See what other people are creating over here.
