how to : rescue a deck chair in 10 easy steps!

You will need:

Basic tools (Pliers, screwdriver, hammer)
Sandpaper
Fabric (mine was from Ikea)
Wood glue
Varnish
Paint brush
Upholstery tacks or staple gun.
Sewing machine

Method:

Step 1 : Rip off all of the yucky mouldy old fabric, which is falling off anyway.
Step 2: Remove any old screws or staples.
Step 3: Sand back timber frame to remove old varnish.
Step 4: Tighten up screws and apply wood glue to joins for extra strength.
Step 5: Apply new coat of varnish (this one was a wood stain too).
Step 6: Patiently wait for varnish to dry, while you complete. . .
Step 7: Cut fabric to size using old fabric as template. Allow for hemmed edges.
Step 8: Hem all around outside of fabric.
Step 9: Attach fabric with upholstery tacks, so that tacks are not visible.
Step 10: Recline in chair with a cup of tea and you favourite mag.

. . . easy peasy!
